Nestled in unsuspecting warehouse in a small town in North Georgia, Sew Bee it of Ringgold has quickly become one of the ten best quilting shops in America according to the 2003 Quilt Sampler produced by Better Homes & Gardens Magazine. Not only by meeting the needs of its customers, but providing them with a truly unique quilting experience.
Owner, Pamela Ruiz moved to North Georgia several years ago. In an attempt to make North Georgia feel more like home to her mother-in-law (an accomplished quilter), Pamela took up quilting. Her quilting mentors introduced to her a new “underground” culture that would quickly steal her heart.
The history of quilting can be traced back for years, but over the past 30 years you can really begin to trace the modern advances in quilting. Today’s quilters are accustomed to using new tools, having faster machines, and a higher quality of fabric. Today, Quilting is a $2 Billion Dollar a year industry with approximately 2000 independently owned shops in the U.S. Today’s quilters consist of men & women, both young & old. There is one thing that makes all of these quilters come together….a special bond that only a quilter understands. Each quilter produces a product that becomes a reflection of their selves.

After her introduction to quilting and spending large amounts of her time traveling to larger cities to find quality quilting supplies, Pamela decided it was time to introduce a top of the line quilting shop in North Georgia. After months of preparing a detailed business plan and keeping her quilting “family” informed via a website, Sew Bee It opened in the spring of 2002.
This unique shop offers so many things…It shows a reflection of the quilting generations gone by to today where there are new innovations almost daily in the quilting world. Sew Bee It extends to its customers a shop to buy top of the line quilting supplies; an opportunity to learn to quilt or improve your skills; displays that will warm the soul; but most of all this shop offers a refuge from the outside –you walk into this quaint shop and you suddenly can’t help but to smile- The beautiful décor, the music playing, the quilt displays, the amazement of the large selection, but mainly your smile is generated by the kind hearted greeting you receive.
Our hats are off to Pamela Ruiz, a local business lady who turned a dream into reality and our congratulations to Sew Bee It, a Catoosa County Business that is creating a “buzz” in the quilting world.
